Deborah Bourden

Tourism Marketing Consultant

Marketer and Entrepreneur

Deborah is a seasoned marketing professional and entrepreneur.  In a career that spans more than two decades, she has worn many hats in many creative agencies and beyond. These include international marketing in a Toronto agency,  production management in two of the top advertising agencies in St. John’s NL,  marketing director for an international resort developer,  and president of Applecore Interactive,  an award-winning internet marketing company.

Dedicated to Tourism

Tourism has always been Deborah’s passion and being the account lead for the Newfoundland and Labrador‘s Internet marketing was a career highlight. In 2011 Deborah took the leap of becoming a tourism operator and bought a hotel in picturesque Twillingate, her hometown. She led the complete renovation and expansion of the hotel business and stepped up as a leader for the industry. Deborah is the incoming Chair (2023) of Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador and previously a board member of Tourism Quality Assurance. She is also on the board of Tourism Not-for-Profit organization Grow Twillingate Inc.

During the unexpected downturn in the tourism industry with the Covid-19 pandemic Deborah has spent countless hours helping tourism businesses find financial solutions, marketing strategies and lobbied decision-makers hard on behalf of tourism operators.

Smart,  Focused and Award-winning

Deborah brings her passion for marketing, technology and the tourism industry to her business clients. She has received two provincial Entrepreneur of the Year Awards (Innovation and Community Impact) from the Newfoundland and Labrador Organization of Women Entrepreneurs (NLOWE). The hotel  business has been awarded an HNL Tourism Business of the Year and Accommodator of the Year Award and Applecore Interactive received multiple awards for its work under Deborah’s direction.

Not only is Deborah smart and focused, but she has grown her knowledge by being in the trenches. What she brings to her clients, is real hard-earned experience.
